Probably the most famous textile in all of Africa, the prestigious Kente weaving style of the Asante people is mythically attributed to the web making of a spider, Anansi. Kente has been called the most labor-intensive cloth ever made, and uses strips of cloth stitched together.  Women’s cloths are typically smaller than men’s.  Each Kente displays a unique pattern of vibrant colors.
