    Description

    This lovely lace collar was in a box of things recently given to me by a relative. The items in it belonged to my great grandmother who died in the mid-1920’s. (The paper documents in the box were dated from 1891-1917.)  It seems that my great grandfather put some of her things in that box after she died and didn’t open it again. I tell this detail to confirm the vintage of this collar
    Thanks to a very kind Ebayer, an expert on antique lace, I now know that this collar is
    machine made by Schiffli embroidery machine, often called burnt lace due to the silk being burnt out after the cotton embroidery is done. The design is inspired by 1900's Art Deco Needlelace.
    This collar has really amazing detail and beautiful designs. Note that there are a couple of very small holes in the net.
