Description
I am selling an assortment of vintage to antique jewelry and rings which I have hunted for and gathered from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!ABOUT:
Rare and wonderful solid silver, black enamel and seed pearl bracelet with lily of the valley flowers and stems along the front side - exceptional quality to this piece. The inside presents as silver and the black enamel continues all the way around the exterior of both the front and back. May have been a mourning piece. The silver areas of the hinge and by the clasp are delicately etched.
MEASUREMENTS:
Please note the petite size
, many Victorians did wear very small rings and bracelets, but it may have also been a youth piece. My wrist is 5.5 inches around and the bracelet fits my wrist perfectly with space to move. It is oval so I can actually still spin it all the way around, but it is not large enough to slide off my hand without opening the clasp. If I wrap a tape measure around the bangle it is 7.25 inches around. The inside opening is 1 3/4 inches by 2 1/8 inches. It weighs 29.5 grams.
Comes as seen in the original antique box which has metallic gold text of the jeweler in Rumburg on lavender silk on the cover. It has a flexible metal ring that holds the bracelet and is slightly spring loaded. The inside is lined in green silk and green velvet.
Antique piece that I acquired in Europe. Eye catching design on this antique high quality piece with very thick layer of enamel and especially lovely floral motif.
HALLMARKS:
There is a stamp on the inside that looks like CB4, and then the latch is stamped with the Hungarian hallmarked used from 1866 to 1937 for small solid silver items.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are in estate condition. This piece was worn and enjoyed. When you look at the enamel in a reflection you can see quite a lot of surface wear, scuffs and scratches. There is a half inch section of loss to the enamel on the back side where the top layer has flaked, but there is still enamel remaining underneath so no underlying silver shows. There are some smaller chips to the enamel as well, three to the edges, some of which are on the front side under the flowers, and one by the hinge. But none of the enamel loss is really deep enough show as silver, the enamel layer is quite thick. 2 of the pearls have some wear to the surface and 2 have a nick but this is seen only under magnification. They have a lovely luster and iridescent sheen. Box is pretty delicate and stained since it is quite old. The lid is starting to split as the silk is just wrapped around cardboard, but it still does the job. Clasp works well, snaps closed snugly. It has a nice patina, with authentic age. Again plenty of Surface wear and scratching due to its age of over 100 years.
Please note this piece is not in mint condition.
I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop. Thanks for stopping by!
