Beautiful African Ceremonial Raffia Cowrie Embroidered Skirt Panel Kuba Textile Zaire 130 x 25"
Condition
: Overall VG condition. Used. // SEE pictures, as they are part of the description.
Specks
: Approximately 130 x 25" Made of raffia and cowrie shells. Hand dyed, handwoven, embroidered and repaired by the Kuba tribe of Zaire aka DRC. BTW, what appears to be holes in the backside, are actually repairs from the other side. What you are seeing is not the floor
but the color from underneath the patches.

Things of this nature are very difficult to date, though I am quite certain it's early to mid 20th century or thereabouts. It has been a part of my collection for 20+ years.
